About Us

We buy the tools, use them badly, and tell you what broke

The Honest Reviewers publishes buying guides for the things people fix, seal, coat, cut and power around a house. Every guide is written by someone who has done the job the product is for.

Why the site exists

Search for almost any home improvement product and you will find the same three paragraphs of manufacturer copy reworded across a dozen sites, ranked by whoever spent most on links. None of it tells you the thing you actually need — that the cheap pressure washer uses a motor rated for a few seasons, that the sealer needs two thin coats rather than one thick one, that the power station's headline capacity is not the capacity you get at the outlet.

We started in 2024 to write the guide we wanted to read before spending our own money: the specification that predicts failure, the trade-off nobody mentions, and a straight answer about which one to buy.

What we promise

Every product gets a cons list

Including the one we rank first. A guide with no criticism in it is an advert.

Nobody can buy a ranking

No sponsored placements, no paid reviews, no pre-publication approval for manufacturers.

We say when a product is wrong for you

Half our advice is talking readers out of the expensive option they do not need.

We show our working

Each guide states what was tested, on what, and how — see How We Test.

How we are funded

Affiliate commission and advertising, and nothing else. When you buy through a link here we may earn a share of the sale at no extra cost to you. Commission does not vary between the products inside a guide, so it cannot decide a ranking. The full detail is on How We Test.
