The guides here are free to read. You are welcome to quote a short passage with a link back. Republishing a guide in full, or feeding our content to a scraper, is not permitted.

Our advice has limits

We test products and report what we find, but we cannot know your specific surface, circuit, climate, or local building code. Nothing here is professional advice. Follow the manufacturer's instructions, and where work involves electricity, gas, structural changes, or working at height, use a qualified professional.

Several categories we cover carry real hazards — generators produce carbon monoxide, pressure washers can injure, coatings can be flammable. Where we flag a safety point, treat it as the minimum rather than the whole of it.

Prices and availability

Prices quoted are approximate street prices at the time of writing and move constantly. The retailer's listing is always the authority on price, availability and current specification.
